Description

Dawn has a particular quality: it marks both the beginning of a new day and the possibility of a new cycle. As the morning fog lifts, forms become clearer and the landscape slowly reveals itself.

Villa Isabella, with the mystery surrounding its history and architecture, became the starting point for this painting. Seen in the very early morning, the building seemed charged with a new meaning, illuminated by a colourful and fleeting light.

Inspired by Old Master oil-painting techniques, the work combines glazing with subtle shifts in colour. Layers of translucent paint build depth and luminosity while recreating the delicate quality of dawn.
